Privacy Policy

Last updated: December 19, 2025

At TrackLab, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our application.

Privacy-First Design

TrackLab is designed with privacy as a core principle. All your data is stored locally in your browser and is never transmitted to our servers. Your GitLab credentials and time tracking data remain entirely under your control.

Information We Collect

Data Stored Locally (In Your Browser)

The following data is stored in your browser's localStorage and never leaves your device:

  • GitLab URL - Your GitLab instance URL
  • Personal Access Token - Your GitLab API authentication token
  • User Information - Your GitLab username, email, and avatar (cached for display)
  • Application Settings - Your preferences for features like search, time input format, and description tags

Analytics Data

We use Google Analytics to understand how TrackLab is used and to improve the application. This includes:

  • Pages visited and features used
  • General location (country/region level)
  • Device type and browser information
  • Session duration and navigation patterns

Note: Google Analytics does not have access to your GitLab credentials, time logs, or any personal data stored in localStorage.

How We Use Your Information

Local Data Usage

Your locally stored data is used exclusively to:

  • Authenticate with your GitLab instance
  • Fetch and display your time logs
  • Remember your application preferences

Analytics Usage

Analytics data helps us:

  • Understand which features are most useful
  • Identify and fix technical issues
  • Improve the user experience

Data Security

No Server Storage: We do not store any of your personal data, GitLab credentials, or time logs on our servers.

Direct API Communication: TrackLab communicates directly with your GitLab instance. No data passes through our servers.

HTTPS Only: All communications with GitLab APIs are encrypted using HTTPS.

You Control Your Data: You can clear all stored data at any time through your browser settings or the application's settings.

Third-Party Services

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics. Google Analytics may use cookies to track your interactions with TrackLab. You can learn more about how Google uses this data at Google's Privacy Policy.

GitLab

TrackLab connects to your GitLab instance using the credentials you provide. Your use of GitLab is subject to GitLab's own privacy policy and terms of service. We recommend reviewing GitLab's Privacy Policy.

CDN Services

TrackLab loads Tailwind CSS and Chart.js from content delivery networks (CDNs). These services may log access requests according to their own privacy policies.

Your Rights

Since all your personal data is stored locally in your browser, you have complete control over it:

Access & Export

You can view all stored data through your browser's developer tools (Application > Local Storage).

Delete

Clear your data anytime through browser settings or by clicking "Logout" in TrackLab.

Modify

Update your settings and credentials at any time through the application's settings panel.

Opt-Out of Analytics

Use browser extensions like uBlock Origin or Google Analytics Opt-out to block analytics tracking.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically for any changes.
